French Bread Toast
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup whole milk
- 2 tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- 8 slices day-old French bread, sliced 1 inch thick
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil, divided

Instructions
- Beat eggs lightly.
- Combine with the milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour into a flat-bottomed dish somewhat larger than the slices of bread.
- Dip the bread into the mixture on both sides, one slice at a time, stirring the mixture after each. Do not soak. Place bread on a plate and allow to stand for a few minutes.
- In a medium skillet, heat about 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat.
- Cook bread for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Add more oil for the second batch.
